De-risk the project by beginning the BIM process early and allow the Trade Contractors to reduce the Installation Drawing period.
Ibsecad were appointed in a BIM Management/Authoring role - The BIM process commenced at RIBA Stage C+ and developed through to Stage F Installation drawings. Working initially with the main contractor and design team was a real benefit to providing co-ordinated solutions prior to sub-contractor appointment; creating a seamless novation through to Installation. BIM process also influenced the Roof Steelwork design to ensure future Plant Replacement would be possible and could be demonstrated to the client in the virtual world.
This was a flagship project for Ibsecad/Sir Robert McAlpine & NGBailey, demonstrating the true benefit in starting early.
The working drawing period from Stage E to F was de-risked by ensuring co-ordination issues were resolved during the design period On initial programme intention for working drawings was 8 months for the shell and core was the cut down from 8 to 4 months.
